Assignment:
Portfolio Website Using WordPress
- To develop an understanding and be able to utilize the tools of WordPress to develop a Portfolio/blog website.
- To explore customized features in which to design, manipulate, and process WordPress site.
The Specifics:
You will Need to develop, create, and prepare your portfolio and content specific for the web.
THIS SITE SHOULD INCLUDE:
- Home Page or Landing Page – Announcing your page and explaining what it is, keep it short and simple. MAYBE AN IMAGE.
- Portfolio Section -[with sub-pages] including a minimum of 8 images. Size them accordingly, they shouldn’t be 20 inches or 1200 pixels wide. Follow image specs according to your WP Theme.
- The portfolio header-page or gallery show between 8-12 images.You Must create two (2) separate sub-drawings; pages could be categorized like; drawings, paintings, interior design, photographs, graphic design, etc.
3. About Page – Describe to your audience who and what you are or are doing – resume, statement, etc.
- Include a resume or similar file; create a PDF document, which can be downloaded.
4. Contact Page – E-mail address or a Feedback box/Comment box. Don’t put cell phone number or addresses on this, just an mail or feedback box.
- Create a WP contact form. Do not simply place your e-mail, student info or phone number.
5. News/Blog page – just so you know how to do it, include a minimum of three (3) posts.
- Content generation; essay, writing sample, observation. Creating original online specific content.
6. Links – include a few that are relevant to you work or portfolio, avoid links to silly sites that don’t have a relevance to the work.
7. Customized Header, something that makes it yours.
- Your index page should be linked to all pages sections of your site.
- Create a working email button for contacting you.
8. Customized Sidebar Navigation, Content Areas, Media Alternates
- Social Network links
- Text logo; sign symbol
- PNG file types
- Text and Image links
9. Animated .GIF File
- See examples offered in class
- Generate a multiple-frame animated .gif file. The sequentially changing image be informative, educational, a personal statement, or simply an entertaining artistic animated sequence.
10. Class Web Blog Contribution
- Project Seven: Design/Writing/Research
- Post written essay to both your personal blog and the class blog as an invite author.

Design Development:
- Look at other WordPress sites to see what appeals to you.
- Develop Site using a minimum of 7-10 works from your portfolio and having a functional resume and downloadable PDF and functioning e-mail button. You can use the artwork you created from this class and/or other classes of yours.
